Rolling Paint - Toddler Art Activity
You'll need empty roll-on deodorant bottles. Clean them out
and fill with tempera paint. Roll the bottles on large pieces of
paper.
Fingerpaint Hearts
Cut out large heart shapes from construction paper. Using
fingerpaint or tempera paint, paint with fingers on the hearts
and then add some glitter for sparkle.
Doily Painting Toddler Art Activity
You'll need doilies of different designs, construction paper, paint and paintbrushes. Put the doilies on top of the paper and then paint over the doilies. After you remove the doilies you'll have pretty designs on the paper.
Windy Day Paintings
Get some construction paper and some kids :) Take them outside on a windy day and then put some tempera paint on the paper. Hold the paper up and watch the wind blow the paint into interesting designs.
Drop Paintings
Tape a large piece of paper to a table or the floor. Put some tempera paint of various colors into different bowls or small tubs. Stand close to the table or over the paper on the floor and put some paint on your paintbrush. Holding the brush over the paper, watch the paint drop onto the paper. Look for the biggest and smallest drops; drops attached to other drops; silly looking drops etc. Does a drop look like something in particular?
Race Track Paintings Toddler Art Activity
You'll need a large, long piece of paper taped to a table. This will be your road! Put some tempra paint on plates. Using small toy cars and trucks, roll the toys into the paint on the plate and then drive your car onto the paper road. With paint brushes, paint some trees and buildings along your roads.
Shape Design Painting
You'll need a variety of items that are the same shape such as jar lids, corks, paper cups, spools, blocks etc. Pour paint onto a plate and then dip the shapes into the paint and make different size shapes on the paper.
Straw Painting
Find different size drinking straws. You'll need to put paint in cups and have spoons handy. Spoon some paint onto your paper and then with a straw, blow the paint around.
Mud Painting Toddler Art Activity
You'll need a shower mat or white shower curtain. Put mud in large plastic tubs. Scoop some mud onto the mat or curtain and fingerpaint with the mud. Add some small toy cars and trucks for added fun!
Snow Painting
Go outside and paint on snow with water color or tempera paints.
Rough and Bumpy Painting Toddler Art Activity
You'll need fingerpaint and fingerpaint paper. Go outside and lay your paper on the concrete or blacktop to see the texture you make when you paint on your paper. Talk about how different the paint feels on your fingertips; how different it is from painting on the table.
