Toddler Learning Games The life of a toddler does not need to be day after day of organized activities, but putting in a good routine can help you and your child. If she knows that on Monday you go to the park, on Wednesday you go to playgroup and on Saturday you have a special Breakfast, it will give her stability and confidence, knowing what is going to happen day to day, but allowing flexibility too.

Paper Plate Easter Bunny Toddler Craft Idea

by Family Niche Marketing on 03/28/12

Here is a very easy to make toddler Easter craft idea that requires a couple of paper plates, markers or crayons, glue, scissors, cotton balls, and construction paper or foam sheets.

I used a pink pom pom for the nose and googly eyes, along with foam sheets to cut out the whiskers, bow tie and carrot accent. You can use paper or draw the eyes and nose on and also use construction paper for the bow tie, carrot or whiskers.

I get a lot of my kid's crafting ideas from our favorite resource 'Little Kid's Crafts for All Seasons' and highly recommend it to you too.

There are many great learning and fun activities that little and even bigger kids will enjoy. Most of the supplies are household items, so you don't even have to buy extra stuff. Find out more now.

Healthy Easter Treats - Easter Bunnies Bring More Than Chocolate Eggs

by Family Niche Marketing on 03/28/12

Easter baskets do not have to be full of chocolate and peeps. Here are some great ideas that will fill your Easter basket without all the extra fat and sugar.

Bubbles

What child does not love to blow bubbles? Grab a couple of bottles of bubbles for this year’s Easter basket. The kids will have a blast with them and with a little luck it will be warm enough outside to keep them busy and running around chasing bubbles for quite some time.

Sidewalk Chalk

Another fun treat is sidewalk chalk. This is the perfect time to draw on the sidewalk with the weather warming up. Plus we get enough rain in the spring that your driveway or sidewalk won’t be decorated for too long.

Homemade Playdough

Make some playdough using your favorite homemade playdough recipe (we have one at kinderinfo.com). Get a couple of small playdough toys to go along with it and let the fun begin.

Toys from the Dollar Store

You can also pick up some very inexpensive toys at the dollar store. I have found anything from Easter themed coloring books to kites in there. This is also a great place to shop for the Easter baskets themselves, as well as some plastic Easter eggs that are great for hiding small trinkets and treats.

Of course every child should have some special treats in the Easter basket as well. Along with the obligatory chocolate bunny, include some healthier treats.

Chocolate and Yogurt Covered Raisins

Both chocolate and yogurt covered raisins look like little mini Easter eggs and are a yummy treat. Fill a small cellophane bag with these sweet treats and tie a pretty bow around it.

Trail Mix with Jellybeans

Mix some low sugar cereal like chex, or cheerios with some small pretzels, peanuts, raisins, and some jellybeans for an Easter inspired Trail Mix. You don’t have to feel bad about your kids filling up on this. Pour your trail mix in a small bag, or fill some large plastic Easter eggs with the mix.

Toddler Learning Activities for the Month of March

by Family Niche Marketing on 02/29/12

There's lots of fun toddler learning activities to do throughout the month of March. St. Patrick's Day brings opportunities to learn the color green and the colors of the rainbow as well.

Finding fun coloring pages containing shamrocks, Leprechauns and pots of gold is a great way to celebrate March 17th. Additionally, you can teach your toddlers about the wind by making and flying kites outdoors. Create small colorful kites to decorate a room with.

March 20th is the official first day of Spring, so learn about nature and the changing season. Learn about the letter 'M' along with the weather with the 'Lion and the Lamb' activities. There are many activities available online that can help you plan some fun stuff for toddlers.

March is also National Peanut Month, so if allergies are not a problem, then make some tasty peanut snacks and celebrate!

We get a lot of our kid's crafting ideas from our favorite resource 'Little Kid's Crafts for All Seasons' and highly recommend it to you too. There are many great learning and fun activities that little and even bigger kids will enjoy. Most of the supplies are household items, so you don't even have to buy extra stuff.

St. Patrick's Day Rainbow and Shamrock Mobile Craft Idea for Kids

by Family Niche Marketing on 02/28/12

We made this super easy and fun to make St. Patrick's Day Mobile after getting inspired from our favorite resource 'Little Kids Crafts for All Seasons.' It was great fun for the kids and took no time at all to make. Most parents already have all of the materials and supplies required. There are tons of cool crafts to make with kids in the downloadable craft idea book. Find out more here.

St. Patrick's Day Rainbow and Shamrock Mobile
(photo is below)

Craft Supplies You Will Need:

uncoated paper plate of any size
green construction paper
white construction paper
crayons or markers
scissors
yarn or ribbon
glue stick

How to Assemble:

First of all, you may need some basic shamrock, rainbow and small cloud shapes, or simply draw your own and cut them out. I drew 3 shamrocks about 2 inches in size from green construction paper and 2 rainbow shapes about 2.5 inches in size from white construction paper. On the rainbow shapes I colored in rainbow colors with markers and then glued on a small white cloud shape that I drew and cut out of construction paper and then glued to the side of the rainbow.

The bottom of the paper plate will actually become the top of the mobile, so color the plate with crayons or markers, or perhaps poster paint if desired. Add any kind of decorations you may want to the plate.

Next, poke 2 holes on the top of the plate about 2 inches apart and around the rim of the plate about half an inch from the edge poke 5 holes. Pull a length of yarn or ribbon through the top holes for a hanger and tie yarn or ribbon to each of the 5 holes. Make small holes on the tops of each of your shamrocks and rainbows and tie to the 5 pieces of yarn. !Hang up your mobile to display for St. Patrick's Day.

Easy Paper Plate Leprechaun Toddler Craft Idea

by Family Niche Marketing on 02/27/12

We love crafting with stuff that is already in our home, and have recently made some neat St. Patrick's Day crafts with our kids from inspiration and ideas we got from our favorite kid crafting resource Little Kid Crafts For All Seasons

Our cute tube Leprechaun along with his friend the paper plate Leprechaun were a lot of fun to make and super easy for the kids to do on their own. You probably already have everything that is needed to make these crafts today. The finished photo is below.

Paper Plate Leprechaun

Supplies:

large white uncoated paper plate
green construction paper
yellow construction paper
orange construction paper
glue stick
scissors
color markers or crayons

How to Make It:

Cut out a big hat out of the green construction paper to fit the paper plate 'head' well and glue to the top of the plate about 2 inches down. Cut a yellow strip of paper the width of the middle of the hat and about 2 inches high and glue that to the hat for a 'band.'  Cut a hat buckle out of a piece of black construction paper; also cut out the middle so the yellow band shows through; glue to hat band.

With orange paper, cut out a 'beard' that will fit on the bottom or 'chin' of the head. Make it kind of shaped like a cloud with a wavy bottom; glue to chin of your Leprechaun. Lastly, draw a face and hair on the paper plate and add any shamrocks or accents that you want.
